Cheynes Beach turist activities, for the wife and kids.

Just hoping for some ideas as to the other things to do at Cheynes beach other than fish. Now I'd be perfectly happy to fish the whole time, but there are others in our family who like to do non fishing things. At least I'll be there fishing :) .... The fishing will be beach, rock and kayak.
I have picked up a good amount of fishing information, but am having trouble getting a handle on the other activities through the district. I am a wear of a very tiny river/estuary that feeds into the bay that we will check out. Daughter likes going 4x4, so a bush and beach Pajero trip is on the cards.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

not a hell of a lot
Was there last year for 8 days, wasn't much to do apart from fish and walk on the beach and drink. Having said that, the little bay out the front fired for KG's and squid in the kayak, was bloody awesome.

Is the thong tree at the back of the caravan park still there. I remember 100's of them with names and dates written on them. I last saw it about 10 years ago. Waychinnicup (spelling) is the estuary you mentioned-awesome scenery. Another scenic spot would be Cape Riche. That should keep 90% of your time available for fishing (travel about 5 k's around beach from cheynes for some deeper gutters).

Wychinnicup is a great place
Wychinnicup is a great place for the kayak and exploring. I live in Albany and there is plenty too do out there but u need too make ur own fun :) there is some really good dunes up the beach that when u get too the top have some great views of the beach. But other than that theres good swimming in the small bay in the corner near the caravan park where they launch the boats.
That estuary ur talking i think is Wychinnicup as there isnt any estuary that comes onto cheynes beach itself, but u will see the turn off too Wychinnicup on cheynes beach road off the main highway on the way too cheynes itsself, its off too the right and a gravel road. That bird park is fun and has a great cafe. hopefully some salmon are there if u havent already gone :)
