I was born and bred in Busso and spent all my spare time fishing from the jetty along with thousands of other kids over the years I hope they finaly get their  s---t  together to save it for future generations the place would never be the same with out it

I grew up in Busso,,the old jetty was great with the main jetty going out from the old beach shop,,the giant slide,,diving towers etc,,,damn Cyclone Alby in 1978 wiped half of it away

Busso gets $24 million for their jetty,we [Carnarvon]have a fire that burns 9 bays out in the middle of the jetty and all we get is $1.3mil and we cannot use half of it where they still are booked out at the underwater thingy and making money,

Not hard to see who is the treasurer and represents the Busso area.Maybe if we all voted the liberal bloke in up here it would made a difference???

Yes Troy B is from the area, and he is the treasurer, but it sets a prescedent for refurbishinng and rebuilding icon jetties. I bet you Brendan G has Carnarvon and a few others up his sleeve, as they major tourism and revenue earners when done well.

Lastly it's also upto your Town/council/shire etc, to get off it's @ss and make sure it gets lump of the tourism regional development money in the kitty... no one is going to come begging you to take it, it's time for your mob to get a proffesional group of planners, engineers and managers from the community to give up their free time to put a business plan together and place before Brendan G and Troy B.

Couple a jetty rebuild, with a hotel, few coffee shops, a few trinket shops on the car park and a small resturant and infra structure that improves tourism with a " local suport base" and you will get it,....Money makes money happen, even if it's the future money seen only in a business plan....

Ask for a jetty for a few local mob to fish off and you got squat chance, it's all about the wording of the need and how you skin the cat mate..

 I haen't seen either but would love to, heard so much about Busso jetty and still trying toget the old fart up to Carnarvon.

I have fished Busselton back in Dec 2004 and again in Dec 2005, on our way back from Hamlin Bay.
Both times had fun catching small fry ( herring, yellowtails and other small fish).
Saw some nice big sambo at the top end, but I did not have the right gear to take it on!! just a light flick-stick. Saw a small bonito as well taken by a local. tons of kids and dads with small "K-Mart special" rods doing the family thing. Nothing better than seeing a little tacka squealing his lungs out at his first fish he has ever caught.

Busselton jetty works well, because it's the whole package!!!
beach, resturant, train ride, fish viewing, dive platform, fishing platform, ice-creams, shade for mum, grass for footy, parking for anything from a mini to a Winnibago!!
Perth could sure do with a nice long 500m jetty out to sea as well, with a nice T-end and fishing one side, viewing plaform another and little coffee shop in the middle...It would be an exceptional place to go. Say out from some where between Freo-heads and Scarbs would be just dandy...hey

( but it will never happen...as a big bloody wheel with human-baskets in it, like some over grown ride from the circus is what Perth councilors want!!!! ~ just makes me mad!!!~)

Bussellton has a population base in a 80k radius of in excess of 80-100 thousand,when you consider it is less than an hours drive from Yallingug/Dunsborough,Donnybrook,Nannup,Capel and Bunbury/Australind,that equal heaps of votes compared to Carnarvon-pop 6.thousand say no more!!
As for shops etc,there has been a little shop for coffee/tea,snacks/trinkets etc manned by volunteers 7 days a week for years as well as a little train doing 1/2 hourly trips[now to the burnt end]to the end of the jetty,even taking orders for snacks to be delivered on the next run.
Before the last federal election a pollie stood up during a meeting and handed over an envelope supposedly containing a cheque for the funds needed.On opening the envelope afterwards --nothing.The federal govt changed and of course the supposed guaranteed funds went floating off with the tide.
There are a lot of extremely disappointed people here from a lot of reasons with the representation given to the shire by polititions or should I say lack of it untill elections come about.

wheel in the world next to a river that is now more polluted than the Saigon river in Vietnam. Thats right the fish in the Melbourne Yarra are so full of mercury, arsenic,& lead people are warned not to eat them. One guy caught a good sized mulla last week & said he wouldnt dream of eating it & like everyone else just throws all the fish back. Meanwhile this wheel due to open soon will cost adults $29 & kids $17 for a ride so the average 2 kid family will pay $93 & oh yes there WONT be any family tickets!
Every year the Yarra gets worse while the Saigon improves
Doesnt that tell you how f-----d our councils & pollies are? from east to west it makes no difference!!
