If you ever want to know the regulations in future check out the Fisheries WA website. Has the most up to date size and bag limits on there. Much more accurate then going by the size stickers because the regulations have changed a lot recently and the stickers are very often out dated.

Min of 25cm and only 2 fish over 40cm i think. not too many over 40cm bream around but its good to be aware of the max just in case.

its only 2 over 40cm in the Swan and Canning. different rules for everywere else. but seriously, why take 2 fish over 40cm? i understand some people have to feed big families, but wouldnt it be better to leave the big breeders alone, and take the smalelr specimens, say 30-35cm?

Most people don't know/care that the bigger fish are the breeders. And also if they are only allowed 4 fish, then naturally they are going to try and keep the 4 biggest ones to get the most meat.

Personally I agree with you, I do prefer to take the 30-35cm fish (onn the very very odd occasion that I keep one), but each to their own.

actually 30 - 35 cm is the best eating quality i feel. anything above that, the flesh gets tougher and not as good to eat.

cooked up 2 bream for dinner (29cm and 32cm) and the larger of the two had tougher flesh and wasnt as sweet. the smaller was the best bream ive ever had in my life. perfectly sweet and moist. the larger the fish, usually the tougher or dryer the flesh is IMO
