Boat Preventive Maintenance
Just trying to do a simple 300 hour service on my Honda 150 hp Outboard locally here, gives me the shits when they quote you, then at the end of the day you end up with a $650 service, its a joke. 5 hours Labour @ $100 per hour to do engine,gear oil and pull a leg to change impeller oh and sorry adjust tappet clearance and I supplied both oils in the agreement.. I think Honda should start doing their Preventive Maintenance time schedules for these piss arse jobs that dont take huge times like that are quoted after the job, and that we dont get charged for these huge prices . Deciding now whether to quit the Honda Dealer service bullshit . Picked up the boat bought it home, then found that the winch handle has gone walk about too... Will be looking elsewhere again , got any recommendations in Bunbury, Mandurah area??

not trying to be a smart arse
but thats a pretty normal price to get a 150hp 4stroke serviced they are expensive to do its just the way it is unless you have all the diagnostic gear and tools yourself

It just gets up my goat to pay such big dollars for servicing machinery! I can go get a Prado 10,000 k job done for under $200 . I hope the big four stroke outboard manufactuers start becoming fixed price servicing just to be so competitive to the 2 stroke companys....

A certain SOR honda dealer charged a mate for tappet adjustment but somehow did it without lifting the covers.

Modern Motors
Tappets, Hydraulic no adjustment required.
Ignition, electronic no adjustment required.
So what is a service? change the spark plugs, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, Impellor, general look over.
Oil change in the leg maybe a few other things.
Takes time though and thats the expense.

Do it all myself. Diagnostic programs and leads are cheaper than you think if you know where to look.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Hey guys coming up for my 20
Hey guys coming up for my 20 hr service on my new 115 hp yammi 4's, I will take them back to the guy who fitted them for first service but if a get ripped wouldn't mind trying one of the mobile guys you mentioned, they seem pretty resonably priced.
Just curious though can they sign off on log book for warranty purposes or does it have to be a yamaha dealer??

Most of the new warranty's
Most of the new warranty's now days need to be serviced by a Authorised dealer only to get the extended warranty. SO for instance if you have a Yamaha you get 2 year warranyt unless if you take it to a Yamaha dealer for each service you'll get 4 or it might even be 5 years.
I know Honda is the same not to sure about the others.
