Black Bream

I was reading a book of the sizes of fish, and I saw black bream got up to 60cm? Just wondering if anybody has seen or heard of such monsters? Ive only caught them around the 45cm mark at the most

My biggest is 54cm to tip of tail that was caught at Mosman about three years ago. The following week I got one that went 53cm. Biggest I have seen was one my mate caught about 20 years ago.

We keep it for a feed and scalled, gilled and gutted it went just over 3 kilo. It was a horse of a fish.

Have seen a 53cm pulled up

Have seen a 53cm pulled up with expert skill at CB, out of water just long enough to measure and get a quick photo.

Had the head of a snapper and was too large for my brother to get his hands under its gills to lift out of the water !!!!

Had to lean over and cradle the baby out.

Damn thing didnt even run, just lulled up to the surface like it had been caught and released 100 times before.

Was a great feeling to see it slowly swim down to the bottom, must have been a good 2.5kg at least.

That was 2 years ago, so it just goes to show there are still some huge breeders out there, make sure you put them back so my son and his son and so on can still have a go at trying to land a legend.

big bream

bout 20 years ago we use to do overnight runs down the old swan brewrey good old days, bunch of use would ride our bikes down light a small fire fish all night no hassles from rangers or police on one night an old chinaman come down with a throw net watched him stalk a fish along the rock wall for a while then cast his net with great precision ,we heard the splashing ran over to check out what he caught and could not believe what we seen biggest bream one could imagine the tail was was sticking out of the old mayo bucket he put it in,things allways look a lot bigger when your a young fella but ive caught a 47cm bream and that had nothin on the old chinaman..i believe the big monster bream may just be to old and wise to take feed that has a line attached to it...there out there and if your lucky and have the skill to catch one and land it then let the bastard go..........cheers trev..

and seeing pictures of Blacks from the Lake Clifton I think, between Mandurah and Bunbury? - They were the biggest I have ever seen, late 40's and 50. It apparently was/is a magic fishery for them, unless I'm mistaken it cant be fished now and it's been that way for along time.
