Big tackle shop or little tackle shop ??? WHERE DO YOU SHOP ?

Hi just curious to where you guys shop either at a big tackle store or a little tackle store. I gotta say i shop at the smaller ones. People tend to think bigger store / chain stores smaller price . I know this is wrong for a fact recently i have purchased a SHimano torium 30 , which i scored from a small tackle store at 260 dollars , i went to ranger camping and outdoors only to find that the shimano torium 20 which was all they had was set at a price of 430 BUCKS , ripp , just goes to show bigger stores doesnt mean smaller prices .
cheers

little guys
I made the decision that I would only take on small independent stores on the site instead of big chains. Often they will help you out with a problem when the bigger guys don't want to know about it, I had it happen with a live fibre that snapped and wouldn't be looked at by one of the big chains. Took it to a little shop and wallah, new one that day without paying a cent which convinced me to spend my money with them in future.

best to shop around
small guys are the go for a cheaper deal but some small guys are so expensive, went to bluewater the other day priced a rod and anaconda said they will match it and beat it by 10% so sometimes big chains are ok but smaller guys are the go for me more advice and you know they fish hard.

Small
Small tackle shops when i used to live in Perth..good to support small business, even if it does cost you a little more. Just the same as getting your meat from a butcher, instead of coles ect..as once all the small shops are gone..bcf ect can charge what the want.
At the moment i live hundreds of kms from the nearest tackle shop, so its online shopping for me.

Def small places just for
Def small places just for price alone. Aside from kmart or big W the chains are bloody pricey. Good little tackle shop on Rockingham Road, can't remember the name but good prices and a friendly owner up for a chat and some advice.

There shouldnt be any price
There shouldnt be any price matching to begin with that goes for anything not just fishing stuff, it should be set at the right price to begin with that goes for all stores, i shop wherever the price is right big or small(although i prefer to support the little guys if they look after me) if i see something i like and its at a right price at a store i will pay that price i dont barter its not asia! .

i normally go the smaller guys
BUT i have been into some smaller shops, where the experience has been very negative, the staff dont greet you, dont offer to help, the advice is negligable and furthermore the prices are high...i think in general it pays to shop around...

I prefer helping the smaller
I prefer helping the smaller guys out but I also like the cheapest price. I hate buying something then two days later finding out that I could have got it $30 cheaper somewhere else.
If I need advise about what I'm buying, then shopping with the smaller guys and paying a bit more - I don't mind doing. I like to look at it as "paying for the service/advice". It helps me to justify paying that little bit more!
Plus like Wadetolley said - Once the smaller guys are gone, the big chains can charge us more!
I fish for the future - Cause I can't bloody catch anything!

good to see everyone
good to see everyone supporting the little guys!
The only thing is sometimes you find a reel at like 60 or 80 bucks less when you shop around. Its not so bad so long as you find it before you buy the reel lol

There is nothing like knowing the people
When you visit tackle shops as often as I do (once or twice a week - what can I say, I love tackle) you get to know the staff/owner etc. That sets up a personal relationship and not just "another customer".
Better service and better advise. You also get a discount if you get to know them well, because if you look after them they will look after you.
You cant get to know the staff in a chain store, there is just to many. Big is not always best and this is certainly IMO the case with tackle stores.
I only went to a few so far and I have been fishing since I was young.
Mandurah when Roy was there only went to Tuckies, and with Chris there now went to him but also got to know someone at the Camping store behind the carwash.
Up in Ktown Adam "the one arm bandit", and because his staff and him know me we all walk away happy with service and price.
When away from home still use the little shops.
Go the small guys.
