Big Blue
Managed to go for my first fish in 6 weeks yesterday as I have just moved into a new house and I hate to say I have been too busy to fish.
Got a call from a mate at 9.30am seeing if I was keen on heading out. My plans of putting my fence up was put on hold as the weather was looking too good and it had been way too long between drinks.
Headed out around the Cape at 11am. The water was a bit lumpy but there was little wind.
First spot wasn't showing a lot of fish on the sounder but after a couple of drifts my mate Troy managed a solid pinkie of 85cm. Great way to start the day.

Next few drifts resulted in a couple of small dhuys that were released.
As the ocean had settled down I decided to head out and have a look at some ground I found a while ago but hadn't fished much.
Once at the spot I managed to find a few fish on the sounder but the bite was slow. After a few drifts the fish slowly started coming on the bite and we started getting a few small fish.
Just when I was thinking time to try a new spot Troy hooked up to something solid that wasn't stopping. After a few minutes Troy started to gain a bit of line from the fish. As the fish got closer to the surface it got further away from the boat and we both were thinking, could this be a 20kg+ dhuy?
When the fish came into view we could see it wasn't a dhuy but couldn't make out what it was. Then to our surprise a big blue hit the surface.

We both thought of releasing it as we knew how rare these fish are these days but unfortunately it was in bad way and wasn't going back.
With a couple of great fish on board it was time to head home.
Cheers
Brendan

hot to trot
Even though you may have been absent from fishing for a few weeks, certainly doesn't look like you guys lost the knack of it though. Love the blue photo, if you submit it by itself I think it would make the Photo of the Month comp quite easily.
