I fished the GC for 10 years
I fished the GC for 10 years - both boat & landbased. If you're without a boat, I'd suggest just bringing a light flick stick - work the public canals.
GC Seaway has its days - school trevs, tarpon, tailor, bream, flathead, mullas etc. Southport jetty (not sure if access is still allowed) - good for tailor, dart, bream.
Beach fishing is always worth a shot too (clean surf beaches over that way) - tailor, soapies, dart, bream, whiting

also suggest a game rod for
also suggest a game rod for the big bull sharks in the canals too if your keen.
fair few get dragged out of there!
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

hey Feral,
I'm based in brissy/GC, drop me a line and I can possibly take you somewhere, been a while since I have line fished though. Even a boat outing might be a go.
I have only fished flatties over here, I think the tweed fishes well for monster flatties and have also doen well in some sunny coast rivers. Never fished the seaway cos there are macks and wahoo a plenty not far from there ;) 0405 127 030
