Advice needed - North or South?

Hey all.  My GF and I are going on a 4WD/camping/fishing trek in early May for about 8-10 days and are tossing up where to go:

North to Kalbarri and Shark Bay

or

South to Augusta, Denmark, Walpole, Albany etc etc

We have a Quinnie 4.75 Coast Runner but haven't had it for long and while I have owned a little dinghy for a number of years, this is my first 'real' boat.  I am leaning towards the South as there are (in my thinking) more places to go if/when the weather turns bad.  I know the fishing is probably better North, but we are mainly geared at this stage to bottom bashing for bream/flatties/whiting etc.  Plus I haven't beach launched before and am really wary of trying it out for the first time in an unknown spot (but I also say to myself - 'Just have a go and learn form your mistakes...')

Any advice or ideas?

Tails for south, Heads for north. There's too many options and you will get varied opinions, both have great options for a getaway. Crowds should be gone from down south and you'd have the pick of great camp sites down that way with beautiful forests, rivers and beaches and a shorter drive, but the temperature would be getting cold down that way with possible rain. North is where most people start to head chasing the good weather, also with good options at Kalbarri and better again at Shark Bay. Discus with GF for camping style or flip the coin then start working on the locations for 4WD/camping & fishing options.

It has been decided - we are going to Denham.  Any advice or tips on where to start looking?

Everyone seems to say to go to bent pin and try there as well as getting over to DHT if possible.

Any tips/pointers would be appreciated.
