Submitted by Trousersnake on Sat, 2010-02-06 17:56
Got out to day with Matt T and Matt O on tha bayliner and smashed in about 16 herring in 30 mins. Used a couple to try and get some squid but couldnt get em in tha boat.
Barbie's on and I'm looking forward to a feed.

Great Day
Yeah mate was a great day - have a look at the tackle bag an the right hand side of the screen for some good directions to add photo's.
I love it when the herring fire like that huh - no bait needed! Those lumo tubes are great when they're on the bite.
I can't believe we didn't get the squid, despite having those two herring demolished.
Hope the girls enjoy tea mate!

small twisties work even
small twisties work even better when they are on the chew few years back we had a herring comp each of us had five minutes to fish. the winner got twenty in the five minutes thats only cause half of them flicked off the hook and landed straight in the bucket was good fun though if only bottom bashing was that easy been struggling lately
Play hard fish harder

Been awhile...
...since I got onto 'em like that. Remember one day at the Dawesville Cut when I must've caught about 100, average size around 28cm, on a tiny pink rubber shrimp threaded onto a 1/16 oz jighead. Two guys out in a boat probably got around 10 at the same time, using standard berley/blob rigs. The fish were boiling on coral spawn that was coming in with the tide.
You can't beat a small soft plastic when there are lots of herring around...they will smash it as much as anything else and the single hook stays connected much better than trebles do.

Yeah they sure know how to throw the hook at boatside! Gotta say they are a great fun fish to catch and tasty - such easy fishing too.
We'll get out there again soon mate.
