We did use a little oil Big John, but only when we didnt get any for a couple of casts. Most of the time they weren't far away, the oil just made them boil.

Hey Jay, narrhh as far as I know they are different specimen to the Australian Salmon. They look exactly the same but Salmon Trout has the golden spots on them as you can see in the picture. With the Australian Salmon it has a black darker spots.


My reels screaming zzzzzzz.... awwww damn it, its another boat!

I think you may find "salmon trout" are juvenile west australian salmon. The juveniles have different markings from the adult fish. The yellow spots fade as the fish matures.

size and bag limits apply.
