he is ruined alright.it was actually a double hook up of what we predict was another moster cause both reels wre screaming unluckily the lines crossed while they were still on there first run SNAPPING one off. adam footage of this i will get down to you sometime next week
always in it just the depth that varies
All of the larger macs I've caught or witnessed being caught have come on floating or balloon baits.
Never had much luck with big spaniards on the troll. Largest fish taken trolling about 18kg. Wahoo are a different story though, but the bigger fish have been loners in my experience.

Thanks Shizz, got myself quite a few Rapala CD18's and I've spent plenty of time trolling off Dampier without any luck. Most luck I've had has been on the bigger RMG's.
yeah deffinately jay all my lures are on single strand wire bar my strandskirts which have a short lenght of at least

On the troll
Great mac for a blokes first fishing trip. You've totally ruined him you know, everything else will be a let down now. Hehe.
Must have lit the drag up on his first run.

Speed Kills
Cd18's will do the business Jay. You need to speed them up by trolling at about 8 knots to enjoy maximum success on macs IMO.
Single strand stainless leader traces will help as well.

Cheers big john, I think our trolling is usually around 4-5 knots so I'll speed it up next time and see if it's more successful.
I've seen some horse mackies caught off Dampier so there is awesome potential there.
