Yellow Fin Tuna Christens the new Tug
Submitted by JohnF on Fri, 2013-03-29 20:16
After 3 months of waiting, we finally took my new tug the Boston Whaler Conquest 235 for its first proper fishing session today. In very trying conditions, we had a couple of hits before this one stuck solid. Got it on my new TLD20 with 10 kg mono, put up a great fight and big thanks to my two deckies, Daz for driving the boat in horrible conditions and still keeping the fish to the side of the boat and Chrisp for a nice gaff shot.
Boat is nothing short of awesome!
Job done!

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Alfred, the BW is simply awesome. I could not be happier. It does everything I want in a boat better than I could have hoped for. A few tweeks to do here and there, but just window dressing.
22.2 was about as warm as we saw water today, but we saw heaps of likely YFT on the sounder around several big bait balls. The tuna had mulies in its stomach.
Looking forward to some sashimi and tuna steaks tomorrow after the flesh has set in the fridge. Had fresh dhuie tonite, thanks to a slab off a nice jig capture by Chrisp today.

Great work John, you've got the YFT sussed!
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Just noticed the birds.....they actually arrived after we were working the area for about 20 minutes after we saw bait on the sounder surrounded by ominous big red blobs. Once the birds came we know we were in for a shot.
