Ian what do you thing of the Fream4500 picked up one the other day have put 40lb on one spool and 20lb jigging braid on the other have yet to really test it out.Have mine on a t curve 200
Gday Andrew; Good reel for the $$. I've got 30lb on mine and use it for casting poppers and the like. I can't vouch for it as a jigging reel, not my thing, but on the Trevala it's my favourite all-round tropical outfit. My brother has an identical outfit and he had some problems with the bail spring, but otherwise it's a ripper.
Thanks Ian only intend to use it for small jigs I also have a third spool that has general braid on for when I intend to use it on the tournament rod tryed it out tonight on a mulloway and she went very well
I've found that the bail springs have a bad memory on some makes
of diawas.
I use a Capricon J on my T-curve 200 with 50lb with
the only fault being a rotor bearing which was changed out for a
ACRB alls good now.
Hi Rockpom: The Freams is the first "modern" spin reel I've ever owned...previously I was very loyal to Spinfishers. I can't believe I waited so long to convert. But when fishing 50lb braid, do you worry about the plastic-y arm that supports the bail roller? I say plastic, becos I assume the Capricorn uses the same material as the Freams (I understand they are basically the same reel). I've been real happy with Freams using 30lb, but wondered about that arm if I went much higher.
Ian
Ian.young I've done some serious fish in with the Cap J as in the Bent Stick pics I posted.
Good to hear that you have been Converted as all me mates say that the Diawa gear is Great as long as you look after it.
Is the Freams and Theory the same Reel? as the Cap J has a bigger rotor and handle.
No, I think the Theory is a heap more expensive reel than the Freams (at least, it is here in Hong Kong)...I'd always assumed that the Freams 4500J (my reel) was the Japanese domestic market version of the Capricorn J. I could be wrong though. Here's the specs: http://www.plat.co.jp/english/daiwa/salt_reel/freams_J.htm
I just checked out the Bentr Sticks pix....awesome fish!!!!! As for the reel, it certainly looks like the Freams 4500J. But as I said, I could be wrong.

JUst checked and the Theory
JUst checked and the Theory isn't the reel I thought it was. Different beast entirely to the Freams.
