Red Bass on Roosta
Submitted by scuttlebutt on Thu, 2006-09-07 19:05
Had a great Popper Session on the reef today. Red Bass, Trout, Trevors, Shark Mackeral and a couple of Roosta's missing in action. This one is just a pup compared to what was cleaning me up, so there's a braid upgrade on the way!

Nice capture. The old red bass goes hard. What size braid were you running on the saltiga and what type of rod is that scuttlebutt?

Yeh live fibre texalium by the looks, they have an aluminium weave in the butt gives it heaps of strength but still has a nice action on the tip.

Thanks guys, I'm over here
Thanks guys,
I'm over here in Cairns and the rod is a Texalium Live Fibre. I've heard mixed reports about Texalium's, but that one really performs well. Casts a mile and heaps of guts. Don't like the guides though, they're not Fuji's which surprises me, and have weak frames that can easily be bent by small knocks. I've got 40lb braid on the Saltiga, but going to upgrade to 60lb braid to try and keep more lures.
Yeah the Red Bass are protected over here, and a Cig risk, so catch and release only.
cheers,
steve
