Marlin hooks?

This was a hook used by Ozball on his recent trip to Exmouth marlin fishing. 11/0 dojo, hard to determine perspective, but this went on a 100kg + fish, just be a bit selective on what you choose. There was also a Pakula dojo straighted during the week on a 40kg black....

those dojo hooks have had
those dojo hooks have had mixed reports, some say good(hook up rate i guess) some bad(bending!). I guess that one speaks for itself.
Also, with the Dojos they are worth recrimping out of the box if you brought a rigged one. The poor little bloke in china that crimps them has sore arms and ive heard of a few crimps slipping.

rig them yourself
that way you only have yourself to blame.You will also straighten hooks at the leader mainly .What you need to understand is if you have hold of 250 lb leader and take a wrap you take the reel drag and line breaking strain out of the system now you have a 250lb handline to a pissed of billfish and the hook becomes the weakest link .
So tell me have you got your info from years on the water or hours on the internet?

arent the dojo hooks designed to bust at a certain weight anyway? supposedly making it easier on the fish. Sounded like they were just crap hooks with alot of PR spin added

Never been a fan of the Dojo
Never been a fan of the Dojo hooks, i don't know..but they look weak! and don't like the shorter shank especially on a game hook.
I'll never leave Mustad 76LGS's or 7691 for game

Anyone used those Gamakatsu SL12S Saltwater Fly hooks for 10-15kg billfishing? Very fine gauge and razor sharp to enhance hookup rates.

I prefer the 11'0s or 12'os
I prefer the 11'0s or 12'os in the Owner you pay a bit more for them per hook but have never failed me yet.
