transducer upgrade advice

Hi to all, first post on a forum so hopefully I will get it right. Have been reading comments here for a while now and seems to be plenty of people around with some good advise to share, so I will shoot off my first question and look forward to some good feedback.

I am looking at uprading my 600W transom mount transducer on our Furuno sounder, was considering a 1KW shoot through but after contacting the boat manufacturer they advised I best go with a through hull type. I have been to Taylors and they suggested a low profile 1KW bronze through hull 200/50 KHz. After receiving more info from the guys at Cruisecraft I found out that there is also a 200kHz only version in the same housing which is available in a narrow beam 6 degree or a wide beam format.

Being as I fish mainly in the 40-100m range targeting bottom dwellers what would you choose?

Thanks Michael

Dealing with the taylor fellas from here in henderson and the east coast would be the right start. After going thru hull ill never go back to transom set ups.

Thanks guys, did read that

Thanks guys, did read that previously and was really impressed with his work. I am not quite so confident undertake such major work myself. The guys at cruisecraft were recommending a smaller sized transducer that have the internal elements offset to suit the deadrise of the hull, according to them pretty easy to install. The down sizing of the transducer and its elements must reduce the sensitivity but the 200KHz only type is still 13 times better than the transom mount already fitted according to manufacturers spec. However the 200/50Khz unit is only twice as sensitive @ 200k and 6 times @50khz.
