Sundays report - fads/bottom bounce

Hi Guys

Had a big day on Sunday. Hit rotto for a bit of a troll around. Then we saw some birds hitting up a reef with some action underneath, which resulted in my first yellow tail kingy caught on a stick bait!!

After that we hit a couple of the fads. Had dolhinfish jumping around the boat and swimming around but couldn't get them to hit a lure or a mulie! Spewing! Really wanted to cacth one of these but just couldn't tempt them. What do other people use? I saw in another thread a silver blade so this might be a goer?

On the way home we did a couple of drops. Second drop on some likely looking ground resulting in 3 dhus (1 released)

and a baldy, in a period of half an hour! Stoked! 2 abouts 53cm and 1 about 80cm. The baldy went 55cm! Couldn't be happier with that when I am still learning the sounder and reading the bottom etc!

So big day out trying a few things and it paid off! Long trip home and big day but worth it in the end.

Percula.

We did the same kind of trip the week prior. Literally hundreds of dollies around us at one stage out there - threw everything at them (trolled skits and hard bodies, threw small lures, baits, poppers, slices, flies, plasics) without success.

They're frustrating buggers. Same thing last year, one day they hate you, the next whatever you throw in the'yre onto. Keep trying, as water warms up from now on, they should get more active.

Timid nibblers?

Last line of defence for super shy dollies is , and whats worked for us if not many muttons around , very slowly cube with thumb sized bits of mulie

only one every minute or so for say 10 minutes , then using a red 3/0 4/0 sized hook tied directly to the main line

( reel spooled with clear mono  ) drop a baited one down , feeding off loose line as you go.

You will loose every secound one to a bite off/ hooks pull / bait steal etc etc , but it works, when nothing else will.

good trip mate , Perth dhuies are a very targetable species now days, well done.
