Wishing all the members, would like to be members and onlookers in a very happy and prosperous New Year.
Can the next one be better than the last one is all we ask.
This one has been a bit of a prick health wise for me so anything of an improvement will be very welcome

Big year ahead for me. Been
Big year ahead for me. Been diagnosed with an adrenal adenoma which is a benign tumour on my adrenal gland that can overproduce cortisol causing a constant fight or flight mechanism leading to high blood pressure, extreme fatigue and anxiety/depression to name a few. Going through testing to confirm it's a functioning tumour to have the cunt removed and return to living the life I was years ago.

Never ending
Had an MRI on shoulder that had been operated on 10 yrs back, to see what surgeon needs when he goes in to replace nearly all the moving bits. One snapped tendon, one badly torn and 3 major tears to go with the arthritis in the joint.
All this on top of problems with bleeds into supra pubic catheter that one is stuck with for ever through complication from prostate surgery. When asked if I kicked a Chinaman for all this bad luck I reply that not only him but his entire family plus his dog and cat.One is alive and that is what matters

While we are on the subject,
While we are on the subject, I was diagnosed with sever aplastic anemia in October 2022. Got sick and ended up in hospital 2 weeks before my retirement day. For those that follow AFL and are familiar with the Richmond/St Kilda Maddie's Match, this disease is what took out Nick Reiwoldt's younger sister. Severely compromised immune system (as well as low platelet and red blood cell count) means no offshore fishing, a dorsal fin spike or similar from a demersal could cause severe problems or worse. Only whiting and squid for the past year. And that is only when I'm able to get on top of the overwhelming fatigue that is all part of this sickness
Was planning a round Aus caravan trip in retirement but doctors have knocked that on the head. Van now just sitting in the driveway...
No cure, just ongoing treatment, but at least I'm still here.

Sorry to hear that Saint. It
Sorry to hear that Saint. It sucks to get something like that just when you're about to enjoy the retirement you've worked so hard for. Better than my father in law who got 2 years of retirement and died very suddenly. It all makes my decision to retire early (not yet but plan is coming togther) the right one for me.

That truely sucks mate and
That truely sucks mate and sorry to hear. The fatigue is the worst because it prevents you doing the things you want (or at least to the extent you want) even if you feel ok which compounds things from an emotional wellbeing perspective.
All the best going forward as well John and Unc and may 2024 bring some good laughs and a few fish.

Ended the year with a few
Ended the year with a few extra scars both on the leg and carcinomas-was supposed to get one out this morning and Dr cancelled.
Last kid started a sparky apprenticeship this morning, and I'm looking at how to slow down at work.
Had a plan to swap weeks with my opposite who was keen for more work-then he won lotto...
I know I won't lay on my death wishing I'd moved another barge of iron ore to China, but too tight to knock it off altogether.
Montes this year hopefully, but my dear old Ma in NZ will also need a visit.

HYN All, Best of luck Frosty
HYN All,
Best of luck Frosty & Saint...My bit after severe Tinnitus kicking off in one ear was a MRI which found nothing in the ears but a growth on my Pituitary gland which is at the base of your brain, mine was benign also..its name was Acromegaly. This the same as what Andre the Giant had...I recon it kicked in early 30s for me looking back, boot size went from a 12 to a 13, people commenting on my hands and the wife constantly complaining about my chronic snoring, this due to my growth hormone sitting in the 800s....normal is 200s. Was good eat and drink what I wanted, veins sticking out with not a gram of fat on me...gym sessions pulled results like nothing else. You can live with it, they recon it can take 10 years off your life worse case. So had an ENT and brain surgeon working together, up through the nose, fractured the scull then pulled it out...size of a pea same as the movie total recall...I shit you not. All good now, hormones back to normal..no meds, just yearly bloods and follow ups.
Still struggle with shit hearing and ADHD which I really need to get sorted..
Anyway…big year ahead, have just started pulling my tub down, massive job ahead just to get the motor off and boat into the back shed, plans are for a new floor, strengthen the cab, new design on the transom, windscreen, roof and the best suspension seating I can find, keeping the old Opti at this stage.

Yeah wish you all well and hope everyone gets over their hurdles.
I had my scare few months ago with a gut ache, went to doc after work then up to Bunbury at 8 next morning for ct scan( a bit spooky for someone who hasn't been in a hospital bed since birth) Then old mate shoved his camera up me shute but thankfully nothing found and has returned to a one way street.Being early 40s it was the realisation how my life could have spun 360 from a single test result.
any niggles fellas pays to get them checked!!

Just goes to show no matter
Just goes to show no matter your age , health or sex anything can happen. Touch wood my health is good. Sandy and I are planning to start getting away a bit more with hopes to an early retirement for me in a few years . My dad left the travel stuff too late and I don't want to be the same with Sandy.
Good luck to all that have different ailments and you recover sooner than later
