New boat new electronics, input please

time to decide on electronics for he new 18ft glass boat I'm turning into a diving rig, currently running Garmin gear in my 23ft trophy and am quite happy, however I am after the best pound for pound sounder setup (non commercial) 1kw will do as I won't be getting out past about 60m

thanks in advance

M260

I have an M260 (in hull) and a 585.

I would go in hull or through hull if possible rather than Transom Mount.

If buying new, all about the same price.

I did see someone on here selling an M260 for $600 i think it was.

in hull

funny you should say that bsir. My last set up was a genesis with 587 tm 260 transom mount and was awsome. Just bought a new rig with 587 and 1kw thru hull. Have only had it out once but my first impression was that the thru hull seemed to be even clearer. Early days yet but was very happy with it

transom mount

definitely think I would stick with transom mount, its an old pacemaker hull, bit scared to cut holes in the hull for a wet box, thanks all for the advice

 I wouldn't worry about going

I wouldn't worry about going 1kw if the deepest you are going is 60m. 600w will do that job just fine.

Agree - For 60m the 600w will work fine and saves money
I wouldnt go 1kw unless regularly going past 100m
