getting a dinghy to rottnest

Hello All,

My family has a house booked and i want to take our small boat (4.5 metre Savage) over for the stay.

Does anyone know where i can advertise for someone to tow it there for me as i am not too keen to drive it there!  not yet anyway...

Leaving From???

Where are you leaving from?

Maybe worth contacting the local yacht clubs ie Hillarys.

Also check to make sure your insurance is Ok with it. Some insurance companies will not cover your vessel if being towed by another private vessel and i am sure the vessel towing you would not be covered as well. Towing avessel is not as easy as it looks particularly if you have a following sea. if not done properly vessel being towed could capsize.

Most people are not aware that if you breakdown and do not casll the local sea rescue group to assist and get a passsing boat or mate to assist and you have an accident or damage either vessel your insurance does not cover you. We as sea rescue groups have special insurance cover for this, just in case.

to find anyone to do that ...and if you did pending on the monies involved,  a alternative might be to buy a inflatable with a little motor to putt around in ...the 8ft one we have rolls into a bag with a little 2.5hp and you might be able to take it on the ferry...just a idea

Try the people who deliver the stores to Rotto

Pelagic Marine may be able to assist you - they have a stores barge that goes over there daily, Mon-Fri from Fremantle... Ph 9336 4200... If they can't help, they may know who can...

Good luck.

I haven't done the trip to Rotto yet, but is it safer to tow it there, or drive it in the company of a bigger boat?

make sure you have a valid

make sure you have a valid Rotto permit on it. or the Rangers will ping you.

At 4.5m it's too big to be classed as a tender of the house boat.

Rangers where very active last week, great bunch of guys and very helpful, but don't mess with them... lol
