Mandurah Tuna

Did anyone else get into the schools of tuna about 17 mile out from mandurah yesterday?

We trolled through the birds and bagged out with 6 tuna on board for 3 anglers, using skirted lures and the old red and white shallow minnow, in 3 passes.

We came across them on the way out to the 70mt line, think they were blue fin - no stripes, shortish pectorals and no hint of yellow bands when boated. All the same size, around 3 maybe 4 kilo each. (camera had a hissy - apparently didn't like being kept in the cool bag - lens fogged up as soon as it was out of the bag, but a short spell on the dash sorted that)

Had a 3 to 4mt hammerhead have a quick look at the sea anchor, but it didn't hang around very long - not a real concern in the boat we were in 7.5 westerberg walkaround.

Here's a pic of Micks' Queenie.

Nice queenie also, sounds like a good day on the water! Any pics of the tuna? Sizable?

Queenies are very good fresh

recomend filleting as even when bled they can have a thick blood line down the middle and on the shoulder. This is easily trimmed off though.

They dont freeze well i have found
